Location
The Doña Elvira mine is located in the Crucero district, Carabaya province, Puno department.
Geology
The lithology is represented by greenish gray sandstones of the Tarma group. The mineralization is in veins and is made up of fine-grained galena, sphalerite, malachite and iron oxides, with a quartz gangue. The type of deposit is vein and in the form of a rosary.
Comments
The main vein has a strike of N10° W and a dip of 65°NE, being an irregular deposit. The power of the vein ranges from 0.40m to 1.20m. You can see a main work in a gallery that is approximately 50 meters long with a width of up to 2.5m. Currently there are no mining works.
